Excellent, gooseberry-style Sauvignon made by a talented winemaker.
Tasting Notes:
Classic, gooseberry-fruited Sauvignon Blanc with fresh, zingy acidity and a clean, crisp finish from the Cape's foremost wine region of Stellenbosch. Great value. Lovely on its own or with salads and fish dishes.Bentonite-fined so suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
More Information:
This wine is the brainchild of Mzokhona Mvemve, a talented Zulu winemaker who is a great role-model. He has had to work incredibly hard to get to where he is, he has an MBA and a winemaking degree from Stellenbosch university where he was one of the few non-whites and he also had to contend with the course being taught in Afrikaans. He has created the name 'Sagila' in memory of his grandfather. Sagila was the traditional mace which his grandfather carried in Zulu ceremonies. This wine is part of the Black Empowerment project in South Africa. Mzo buys the grapes in (so it is not organic) and makes the wine himself. We think Mzo's wines are excellent and we'd like to support this venture.
