Smooth, golden, elegant cognac with lingering flavours.
Tasting Notes:
Pale gold with tawny hues. Lovely warm nose with hints of orange and floral notes with spirit and vanilla oak nicely integrated. Nice complexity on palate which has a smooth, silky texture and is sweet without being caramelly. Refined, elegant style. Long finish.

Susan McCraith may be a Master of Wine, but did you know that early in her career she spent two years living in Cognac working for Jas Hennessy? So she knows a thing or two about cognac and she likes this one!The Cognac district covers around 75,000 hectares of vines divided into six areas (Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Bons Bois, Fins Bois, Borderies and Bois Ordinaires). The grapes planted include mainly Ugni Blanc with Folle Blanche and Colombard.Jean Prunier started shipping his cognac around the world around 1700. His descendants followed in his footsteps until 1918 when Alphonse Prunier died with no direct descendants. His widow Camille called on nephew Jean Burnez and it is still the Burnez family who run the House today.Maison Prunier buy in the harvested grapes which are fermented to provide a wine of relatively low alcohol and high acidity and then distilled in pot stills between November and March each year. The cellar master then makes his magic by selecting the blends and how to age them.This cognac made from organically grown grapes is a new venture for Prunier who launched it in October 2006. As a VSOP it has been aged for a legal minimum of five years in French oak casks, but more likely in practice to be seven to eight years.
