Merlot-dominant, meaty fruit from this organic vineyard near St Emilion and Pomerol.
Tasting Notes:
Great concentration of Merlot and Cabernet fruit from the best vintage for many years. The fruit is manually harvested and produces a rich, concentrated wine with layers of ripe, pure cherry fruit and light toasty notes from the oak barriques. With a long finish, this has lots of depth and character. Ideal for Sunday lunch!
More Information:
Château Fayol comprises 16.5 acres of low yielding vines, organically farmed since 1989 and planted on naturally protected sunny hillsides just the other side of Libourne to the famous wines of St Emilion and Pomerol. The grape varieties are two-thirds Merlot, one third Cabernet Sauvignon and a smattering of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carmenère. The grapes are hand-harvested and only natural yeasts are used to reflect the true taste of their specific terroir.Pascal Matthieu started his career as an engineer but then wanted to follow his dream of owning a vineyard. After training, he found this property to rent and 2005 was his first vintage - and what a great one it was with perfect conditions and fabulous wines.
