”Chile's Los Robles co-operative, formed by local farmers after a devastating earthquake in 1939, is one of the best examples of ethical wine trading, with a thriving wine business and workers who have access to medical centres, canteens, housing projects, educational bursaries and even river-diverting schemes to allow the poorest farmers to harvest their grapes safely.” Jane MacQuitty, The Times.
"Sourced from vines grown in the shadow of the Andes, Los Robles is a range of Fairtrade wine. Premiums from its sales have paid for a new school bus for locals, plus a canteen at the co-operative in Chile's Curico Valley. Wine writer Andrew Barrow describes this Carmenère as 'soft and silky with an inky complexity with flavours of black fruits'." The Independent.
"There are few more attention-grabbing mouthfuls of fruit. Even Australians were impressed when I presented this wine at a tasting in Sydney recently." Jancis Robinson, of http://www.jancisrobinson.com .
Produced using 100% Carmanere grapes that are hand picked, the wine is stored in oak barrels. This elegant, fruity wine has an intense plumy colour; while on the palate has hints of berries, chocolate, caramel and pepper. It is a well bodied wine and is a perfect accompaniment to red meats and ethnic cuisine and seasonal.
