Q: Are the balls noisy as they tumble around the machine?
A: No - they are fairly soft in terms of their surface texture, and in use they tend to work their way into the heart of the load so are well muffled. They are certainly no where near as loud as the annoying metal zip pull on my favourite hoodie... John.

Q: Does anybody else get a lot of static in the laundry when using these balls? If so is there a way around it?
A: According to the manufacturers one of the key benefits of using Dryer Balls is that they should actually reduce static, no one in the office has any experience of a static problem - but we'll put the question on our Facebook friends to see if any of them has any experience / advice. Q: Hi. How does the product actually work? Nowhere does it explain the mechanism.
A: The yellow and green Dryerballs have different tensile strengths (one is harder than the other) and different shaped softening nodes. The two dryerballs have been designed so that they work in combination to lift and separate the laundry whilst tumble drying. The Dryerballs also retain heat and transfer it to the clothes as they tumble, thus aiding the drying process. There is no need to add a "softening" dryer sheet or use fabric softener in your wash. The dryerballs use the specially designed nodes to physically break down the stiffness created by water drying in fabric, thus softening your laundry without the introduction of toxic chemicals.
Marty.

Q: Is it best to place dryer balls in the centre of the washing on top?
A: Many people prefer to start with the dryer balls in the centre, but it shouldn't make too much difference as the spikes on the outside of the balls will enable them to work around the load lifting and separating the clothing. This allows heat and air to circulate more freely, meaning your drying time is reduced. The balls also eliminate the need for fabrics softeners as the balls' specially designed surface nodules physically breakdown the stiffness created by water drying in the fabric, naturally softening your laundry without the need to add chemical softeners or conditioners.
