As toilet cleaners go, I think it does the job as well as the others. Unfortunately, Bio-D have chosen to put in lemongrass essential oil for fragrance. Lemongrass oil is one of those essential oils which very quickly becomes overwhelming, and many people (I suspect most) dislike it. This toilet cleaner smells absolutely awful, enough to make me nauseous, the smell lingers for hours, and it's put me off lemongrass for life. I've talked about this on a vegan forum and it turns out that nobody else likes it either. When I contacted Bio-D to ask if they would consider changing the fragrance, their response was that as it's natural, it can't possibly be unpleasant. Er, no.

Q: I live in a hard water area. Will Bio D Toilet Cleaner remove limescale in my toilet?

A: According to the manufacturers this product "removes soiling and limescale from porcelain and enamel surfaces. Will not affect the safe working of cess pits and septic tanks."
