Heres an ethical twist on the traditional Chocolate Advent Calendar from Divine Chocolate

Posted on 4th November 2008Heres an ethical twist on the traditional Chocolate Advent Calendar from Divine Chocolate

Can you find all of the Nativity characters hidden in the market and around the giant Christmas tree?

This year, the calendar has been illustrated by the artist Helen Mills, with an interpretation of a busy and bustling market in Kumasi, West Africa, and behind every door is a delicious, fair trade Divine chocolate!

Christmas 2008 is the first time that the Divine Chocolate Advent Calendar has been made available in both dark chocolate and milk chocolate varieties, making sure that there is an advent calendar to suit every chocolate lover’s taste buds.

The calendar is also decorated with traditional golden Adinkra symbols that represent the history and culture of the Akan people of Ghana.  Divine sources all of its cocoa beans from cocoa farmers in Ghana. The Kuapa Kokoo cooperative is a collective of 45,000 farmers who not only receive a fair price for their produce but also co-own the company, meaning that they get to share in the success of Divine Chocolate.

So give fair trade chocolate this Christmas and you’ll also be giving a gift to the farmers of Ghana who will be able to invest in a better education, healthcare and welfare for their families.

So make the feel good factor go even further this Christmas, and choose a Divine Chocolate Advent Calendar, now available from EthicalSuperstore.com

Merry Christmas!

About Divine Chocolate
The story of Divine starts back in 1993 with the birth of Kuapa Kokoo, a pioneering  cocoa farmers’ cooperative in Ghana, dedicated to producing high quality cocoa, and running a democratic organisation with the farmer’s interests at heart. In 1997 Kuapa Kokoo made the bold move into the UK chocolate industry and Divine Chocolate was launched. Divine Chocolate’s mission is to bring a delicious Fairtrade chocolate alternative to as many chocolate lovers as possible, and in so doing both raising awareness of the need for fairer trade with developing countries, and growing a market to ensure more cocoa is bought at the Fairtrade price.
