Taking part in Veganuary

veganuaryWe’re just over half way through January, which means we are also half way through Veganuary. Maybe you’ve never heard of it, maybe you’re taking part but flagging a bit, or maybe you’re doing a wonderful job of sticking to a vegan diet this month, in that case I commend you and keep it up!

Matthew and Jane came up with the idea for Veganuary in 2013, they wanted to spread the word about veganism and set a challenge for everyone, focusing on the month of January because it is a time of new beginnings and resolutions. Trying the vegan diet and lifestyle for a month is easy because it’s not a lifetime decision, you can try it out and see how simple it can be without the daunting thought of never eating meat or dairy ever again – but maybe once you’ve realised just how easy it is and how great it is for the planet you’ll decide to convert! Now the main reason people go vegan is because of the animals, we are exploiting innocent creatures keeping them in cages and tearing families apart for food that we can live without, and many think this is undoubtedly wrong. Going vegan is also the most effective way to help our planet, even more so than giving up your car! Take a look at the Veganuary website for more information. (You’ll also find some great tips!)

We know it can be difficult to find vegan alternatives to some of your favourite foods, so we’ve made it easy for you, have a look at all of our products tagged as vegan, it includes food, fashion and cosmetics that you can use and we are always expanding the range so keep checking back.

But let’s be honest, the thing I’ll miss most when I go vegan is the chocolate, so I’m lucky we have a great range of vegan chocolate to keep me going. I’m going to pay special attention to the Vego Whole Hazelnut Chocolate Bar, a huge bar of vegan chocolate with whole hazelnuts, it’s quite possibly the best bar of chocolate I’ve tasted and will definitely curb your cravings.

We may be coming towards the end of Veganuary but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to try it! Go vegan for the next two weeks to prove you can do it, to see just how easy (and delicious!) it can be. There are hundreds of vegan blogs out there sharing wonderful recipes that will open your taste buds to a whole new world of flavour – it’s only and complicated and expensive as you make it.
