Earth Friendly Products

earth-friendly-productsVan Vlahakis arrived in Chicago from impoverished Crete with just $22 in his pocket, managed to put himself through college by taking on odd jobs while he was homeless, and eventually founded his own company – Earth Friendly Products. The idea came after working for cleaning-product manufactures once Vlahakis had graduated, but during this experience he was exposed to harsh chemicals that caused headaches and rashes. He remembered his mother using natural products to clean their house in Crete and realised chemical-free cleaners could be just as effective as regular products without the harmful toxins, and so in 1966 he started Venus Laboratories in his garage.

The brand became Earth Friendly Products in 1989 and today has five manufacturing plants with distributors in the London and Athens to supply Europe, Africa and the Middle East – to be such a global success they must be doing something right. The range now includes over 150 eco-friendly household cleaners for every part of your home that are completely plant-based, vegan, biodegradable and suitable for Septic Tanks. Not only that, the products are also free from any harmful chemicals, that means you won’t find any Phosphates, Formaldehyde, Chlorine, Ammonia, Caustic Soda, Petrochemicals, SLS, Dyes or GMO’s in any Earth Friendly Products cleaner. Now I don’t know about you, but when given the choice between a chemical ridden household cleaner or a natural one I’d choose the one that won’t irritate my skin at all.

Of course there are eco-friendly cleaning options available, and plenty of chemical-free household cleaners available, so what makes this company stand out? Vlahakis dedicated his life to creating a healthier and more sustainable world with the company’s factories producing zero waste as well as being fitted with solar panels to generate their own renewable energy. Not only is the environment taken into consideration, Vlahakis also cared deeply about his employees paying a minimum wage of $17 an hour which is well above the national minimum wage – plus he gave each and every one bonuses every Earth Day and at Christmas.

Sadly Van Vlahakis passed away last year but the company has been left in the capable hands of his daughter Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks who is just as passionate about sustainability as her father was and is continuing the great work the company has been doing.

Right now you can save up to 15% on all the whole range from Earth Friendly Cleaning Products, so don’t waste any time making your home an eco-friendly haven.
